Tramell Tillman Wins Supporting Actor In A Drama At The Emmys
Severance star Tramell Tillman has made history after winning in the category for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series at this year's Emmys.
The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards took place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, on Sunday, September 14, 2025. It honored the very best from primetime programming over the past year, with HBO’s The Pitt winning the nomination for Best Drama series, whilst Netflix’s Adolescence won for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
Tillman won the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role in the mind-bending science fiction series Severance, in which he played the eloquent, yet chilling antagonist Mr. Milchick.
At 40 years old, Tillman has become the first ever Black actor to win an Emmy in this category. Whilst there have been an increased number of nominations over recent years for people of color, this marks the first time in the Emmys’ 76-year history that a Black man has won in this category. Tillman is also the first openly gay actor to win in this category.
“I feel honored to join the legacy of these incredible storytellers,” Tillman stated in an interview. “I’m ambitious and would love an Emmy, but I’ve learned it’s not up to me.”
Tillman’s nomination was one of numerous for Severance, which has received widespread critical acclaim following the release of its second season earlier this year. Though it lost out to The Pitt for Best Drama Series, the series received the largest number of nominations at this year’s ceremony, receiving 27 nominations overall. Notably, Tillman’s co-star Britt Lower also won in the category for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
