Motion Picture: Kalshi Threatens Netflix With Defamation Lawsuit, Ryan Coogler Announces ‘Black Panther 3’
Action/Thriller/Sci-Fi: Kevin Feige plans on adding Miles Morales to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) after Spider-Verse Films conclude on June 18, 2027 with Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. “The good news is, Sony has the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse series, which are very popular and excellent, and Beyond the Spider-Verse is coming out next year,” Feige told China’s Watching Hollywood. “But yes, we definitely have plans [for a live-action Miles], and I think a live-action Spider-Man movie has this destiny: to add Miles sometime after the Spider-Verse series ends.” In 2023, Pascal confirmed that a live-action Miles Morales movie was in the works. “You’ll see all of it. It’s all happening,” she told Variety.
The cast of the new 13 Going on 30 Netflix Reboot has been announced. Owen Thiele (Adults), Taylor Zakhar Perez (Red,White & Royal Blue),Supriya Ganesh (The Pitt) and Myra Molloy (Girls Like Girls) are helming the film. While unconfirmed, Deadline writes that the original film’s stars, Jennifer Garner and Judy Greer, will also appear. The plot remains under wraps while production kicked off last month in Los Angeles.
Chris Rock is returning to the director’s chair for Misty Green.Rock directs from a screenplay he also wrote. The film follows Misty, an “undeniably talented actress, but her vices have derailed every attempt to revitalize her career. Her best opportunity in ages arrives in the form of Jordan (Rock), a film director with the perfect role for her – were it not for their contentious past.”Rock’s last directorial effort was 2014’s Top Five, a comedy about a New York City comedian and film star A24 studios is distributing the film. Misty Green will debut at this year’s Toronto Film Festival.
This past weekend, Black Panther 3 actor, David Jonsson (The Long Walk) spoke to Winston Duke at San Diego Comicon about the weight of taking on the role. Director Ryan Coogler (Sinners) took the stage to announce that not only will Black Panther 3hit theaters on December 15, 2028, but David Jonsson will play T’Challa’s grown son who was introduced at the end of Wakanda Forever. Duke later told Deadline that he had spoken with Jonsson for the first time earlier that day.“I wanted to extend to him the grace that was extended to me. Black Panther was my very first film, and I was invited to create something really cool with a lot of grace, with a lot of safety. I wanted to just let him know that we’re here to support, we’re here to help, we’re here to augment, we’re here to be here for him and for him to do his best work,” the actor, who plays the fierce M’Baku in the films.
Animated: Micheal B. Jordan’s animated feature Swapped has made its way onto Netflix’s most popular movie list.The film comes in at No. 10 for the week with 139.8 million views after 79 days on Netflix. The most popular movies list covers 91 days worth of data, so the film could move higher on the list once tracking has been completed.
Industry: The trending prediction market company Kalshi is threatening Netflix with legal action over the trailer for its upcoming documentary The Prediction Games, alleging it contains defamatory and misleading material. The dispute focuses on footage showing what appears to be a Kalshi sports trade taking place during a July 2026 World Cup watch party in Las Vegas. Although the platform is currently barred from operating sports prediction markets in Nevada, Kalshi claims the trailer falsely implies the trade occurred in Nevada after the state's court order. Thus, arguing that the trading receipt shown was actually from May 2025 before the restrictions were in place.
The company has demanded that Netflix remove the trailer and issue a public correction. Netflix has denied fabricating any footage, stating the documentary accurately depicts the event and that the trader voluntarily showed a screenshot of a wager placed before the Nevada ban. The Prediction Games is still scheduled to premiere on Netflix this weekend.
