Motion Picture: Regé-Jean Page joins the Cast of ‘Italianna’; ‘Hoops, Hopes & Dreams’ bought by Andscape

Action/Horror/Fantasy/Sci-Fi: Split Rock, a supernatural horror film, will be made on a 16mm Kodak super film. The film will be produced by Ryan Glover. Clark Backo, Drew Ray Tanner, Olivia Luccardi, and Graham Verchere are the main stars of the film. Clark Backo is known for his work in Venom: The Last Dance and Tanner for his role in Riverdale. Backo and Tanner will star as geologists who discover an “ancient force of destruction” beneath the ground. A release date has not been announced, but filming began last week.
Clayface, premiering on Friday, September 11, 2026, could potentially star Naomi Ackie (Sorry Baby/Blink Twice). Since being featured in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and Mickey 17, Ackie’s portfolio is steadily growing. She is currently the top choice for DC Studios next remake. The film centers the story around Batman's antagonist, a shape shifting villain. Clayface, will be produced by James Gunn and Peter Safran. Directing the film is James Watkins.
Prince Amponsah will star in the film How Dare You. The film will be produced by UKs London-based B Good Picture Company, alongside freelance producer Madeleine Davis. The film has an interesting and original storyline following Amponsah, who plays a man faced with supernatural consequences from a haunted house he purchased.
Noah Jupe and Isabela Merced are starring in a thriller film, Psyche. The film is directed by Agustina San Martin, and filming will begin in Malta this fall. The film is an original developed by Double Garage Films and tells a story of illegal archeological digs that take an unexpected turn. The screenplay is written by Katy Cavanagh-Jupe and San Martín.
Cuba Gooding Jr. will join the cast of the thriller Atlas King. Filming has begun this week in Los Angeles, and the film is to be directed and written by Nika Agiashvili. A release date has yet to be announced. Michael Bisping, George Finn, Sarah Wayne Callies, and Anne Winters will be starring with Gooding. Bisping and Finn are also producers alongside John Edward Lee.
Ken Jeong will be starring in the indie crime-thriller 52nd State. Filming has already begun in Bogotá, Columbia. Jeong will play the role of a US Postal Inspector and the adversities he faces through his journey.
Sam Richardson - Frazer Harrison
Comedy/Dramedy/Musical: A new romantic comedy, You Can Do Better, will star Jonah Feingold, Melissa DuPrey, and Paulina Singer. The plot involves two friends in New York City who start a dating show, eventually spiraling into new events. Diego Lanao, a finalist of the 2022 Latinx List, is directing the film. DuPrey is best known for her work in How to Die Alone and Singer for her role in Gotham. They play two friends who start a dating show in New York City that skyrockets to success.
Sam Richardson, Sofia Black D’Elia, David Cross, and Arturo Castro are main faces in the upcoming sci-fi comedy Into the Sky. The film is a mix of intense sci-fi magic with comedic breaks. Richardson plays the lead role, a man who attempts to reconnect with his estranged wife. Film production finished recently in New York. The release date is expected to be in 2026.
New actors are being added to Tom Segura’s film El Tigre. Some of the faces include Luke Wilson (Horizon), Tim Baltz (The Righteous Gemstones), Genesis Rodriguez (Lioness), Arturo Castro (Tron: Ares) and Harvey Guillén (What We Do in the Shadows). The rated R comedy will follow a group of friends as they travel to Mexico, and takes a twist when they discover Jeff (Segura) is a dead ringer for a cartel leader. Segura will be producing the film, and filming dates have not been released yet.

Drama: A Michael Jackson biopic is set to release worldwide on Friday, April 24, 2026. The film, Michael, will explore Jackson’s life and his rise to fame, and was reported to have a $155 million budget.
Following Taylor Russell's exit from the film The Thomas Crown Affair, Adria Arjona will now join the cast. The film will be directed by Michael B. Jordan and is looking at a release date in 2027. Russell left the project due to creative differences, but Arjona is eager to start the project. Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbæk, and Aiysha Hart will also be starring in the film. Arjona has had a packed year, with roles ranging from Blink Twice, directed by Zoë Kravitz, Hit Man, and Los Frikis.
Lorenzo De Moor is joining the cast of Italianna, alongside Halle Bailey and Regé-Jean Page. The film will take place in Italy and is being directed by Kat Coiro (Marry Me/She-Hulk). Will Packer Productions and Universal Pictures will be partnering as producers for the film. Italianna is described as a romantic coming of age and filming began in Italy in June.
Vicky Wight will be directing her upcoming film, The Body Is Water and has solidified the cast. Isiah Whitlock (The Residence), Saoirse-Monica Jackson (Derry Girls), Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor (Origin), Stephen Rea (The Crying Game), Aidan Quinn (Legends of the Fall) and others. The film tells a story about loss and healing, through a cross-cultural lens. It follows a man who relocates to a remote Irish village in the midst of grief.

Documentary: Hoops, Hopes & Dreams is a documentary about how civil rights activists, alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., used basketball courts to drive political change during the early 1960s. The film debuted at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival and has been acquired by Andscape, Disney’s Black-led media platform. Glenn Kaino directed the film, with multiple producers, including the late Michael Latt, Afshin Shahidi and Dr. Bernice King.
A new documentary will be coming to Netflix about the case of Jussie Smollett, The Truth About Jussie Smollett, which will be a 90-minute feature explaining the details of the event. The production company All3Media owns Raw TV, which has previously produced true crime documentaries for Netflix, including The Tinder Swindler and Don’t F**k with Cats: Hunting an Internet Killer.
Amazon MGM Studios is partnering with filmmaker Alejandra Márquez Abella to create a new film: How a Mennonite Farmer Became a Drug Suspect. It tells the story of a real-life Mennonite farmer who had a relationship with the Sinaloa Cartel. Abella is known for her work directing Good Girls, Narcos: Mexico, and A Million Miles Away.
