Motion Picture: Reinaldo Marcus Green New Project For Lionsgate, Michael B. Jordan In 'I Am Legend 2', A24 Announces Equity Investment

Horror/Sci-Fi/Fantasy: According to IndieWire, Director Daniel Kwan had turned down the possibility to work on Disney’s show Loki to pursue his own project Everything Everywhere All At Once. Daniels had a long-term commitment to this project with a unique and hilarious spin on The Matrix. Michelle Yeoh plays a middle-aged Asian woman who is suddenly capable of experiencing multiple realities all at once. This bizarre super-power will help her reconcile with her estranged teen daughter. 

Nikki Amuka-Bird - Heiko Laschitzki

Drama: BAFTA-nominated British actress Nikki Amuka-Bird who starred in M. Night Shyamalan’s Old will soon be the lead in a siege survival thriller Jericho Ridge. The film has only recently started production and is currently filming in Kosovo. Set in the mountainous state of North Washington, Jericho Ridge is a small town ravaged by unemployment and drug addictions. Amuka-Bird will be playing deputy Tabby who will have to face a vicious drug cartel to save her son. 

Reinaldo Marcus Green, director of the acclaimed King Richard film, will be directing and producing a family drama for Lionsgate. A young man of Puerto Rican descent finds himself with crippling student debt and moves in with his mother who he did not grow up with. What started as a way to save money turns into a life lesson about family and self-love. Green made his directorial debut with Monsters and Men, his career has been on the rise since then. 

Michael B. Jordan - Daniele Venturelli

Action: Michael B. Jordan will be co-starring alongside Hollywood Star of Fame actor Will Smith in a sequel for the 2007 post-apocalyptic zombie movie I Am Legend. According to Deadline, Jordan did not only pitched the idea for a second movie but convinced Smith to take part in it. The film will be written by screenwriter Akiva Goldsman who was responsible for the plot in the first film. So far the sequel has no release date and is in the early stages of production.

Industry Updates: A24, the indie studio behind some of the most original and ingenious films in the last decade has announced an equity investment of $225 million, which it will use to invest in and expand its production and distribution. A group of investors will now own 10% of the company which is estimated to be in a total value of $2.5 billion. There had been rumors for some time that other companies wanted to invest in A24, such as Will Smith’s Westbrook Studios.
