Receipts: ‘Chainsaw Man’ Finds Global Success; ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Halloween Sing-Along Is A Hit

Domestic: The highly anticipated anime film, Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc, premiered in US theaters on Friday, October 24, 2025, following a successful theatrical run overseas. The film landed in third place at the box office for the weekend of Friday, October 31, 2025, to Sunday, November 2, 2025. Although the film fell two spots at the box office and earned 65.5% less than the previous weekend, it brought in $6.214 million, raising the anime’s total domestic gross to an impressive $30.983 million.

For a special Halloween Sing-Along Event, one of 2025’s biggest hits, KPop Demon Hunters returned to theaters for the weekend of Friday, October 31, 2025, to Sunday, November 2, 2025. The film accrued $5.3 million in just three days, bringing its total theatrical earnings to $24.3 million. Considering the film has been shown in theaters for just five days overall, these earnings are highly impressive.

In 10th place is Good Fortune, which earned $1.446 million during its third weekend of release. The film fell four spots at the box office, earning 53.4% less than the previous weekend. The feature’s total domestic gross is now $14.667 million, just under halfway to earning back its reported $30 million budget.

International: Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc has expanded to screens worldwide, performing well at the box office in multiple countries. To name just a few, the film has grossed $2.064 million in France, $1.622 million in Germany, and $1.560 million in Mexico. Notably, these numbers follow a massively successful theatrical run in Asia, bringing the worldwide total gross to a stellar $139.183 million.

The Boy and the Heron is returning to US theaters beginning Saturday, November 15, 2025, as a part of the annual Studio Ghibli Fest. Although this is the newest Studio Ghibli feature, it has already become a fan favorite, sitting at a 96% critic score and an 88% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Rental Family is hitting US theaters beginning Friday, November 21, 2025. The film, directed by Hikari, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday, September 6, 2025. The film follows American actor Phillip Vandarploeug (Brendan Fraser), who is living in Tokyo. He finds work at a rental family service, where he must stand in for strangers in real-life situations. As the lines between reality and fiction blur, an unsuspecting Phillip finds a meaningful connection with one of his rental families. Early reviews have praised the film, which currently sits at a stellar 96% on Rotten Tomatoes. 

Streaming: Over on Netflix’s Global Top 10 English Language Movies list, KPop Demon Hunters continues to dominate. Even with the theatrical re-release, masses still streamed the family favorite film on Netflix. It came in second on the list, accruing 14 million views and 23.3 million hours of viewing time over the week. This is the feature’s 20th consecutive week in the Top 10; an amazing accomplishment.

On Netflix’s Global Top 10 Non-English Language Movies list, Indonesian zombie flick, The Elixir, topped the list. This is the film’s second week at number one, following its global Netflix release on Thursday, October 23, 2025. It raked in 6.1 million views across 11.9 million hours of viewing time for the week of Halloween.

The story follows an estranged family who fight to reunite and survive a zombie outbreak. The infections stemmed from an elixir containing the traditional Indonesian medicine, Jamu. The film has divided critics and audiences, with the former awarding it a solid 70% on Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences, however, have disagreed, rating the film an unfortunate 27%.

Indian Tamil-language action film Idli Kadai landed in second on the list. This is the film’s first week in the Top 10, following a worldwide theatrical run that began Wednesday, October 1, 2025. The feature’s Netflix premiere was on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, accumulating 5.2 million views and 12.5 million hours of viewing time across its debut week.

Idli Kadai follows Murugan (Dhanush), a successful man who departed from his rural village to pursue his dreams. Upon receiving devastating news, Murugan returns home, where he faces his past and discovers what is most meaningful to him.

In sixth place on the list is the Thai horror film Attack 13. This is the film’s second week in the Top 10 following a theatrical run over the summer. The teen scream feature amassed 2.3 million views across 4 million hours of viewing time over the week.

The feature follows Jin (Korranid Laosubinprasoet), a new girl at school who stands up to Bussaba (Nichapalak Thongkham), a ruthless bully and the captain of the volleyball team. The horrors begin, however, when Bussaba is found dead, and her sinister spirit has unfinished business with the unsuspecting team.

Guillermo del Toro’s newest film, Frankenstein, had its Netflix debut on Friday, November 7, 2025, following a limited theatrical run. The acclaimed director’s reimagining of the classic monster tale stars Oscar Isaac as the film’s namesake, Victor Frankenstein, an experimental scientist who brings the infamous creature to life. The film has been universally praised, especially from audiences, who have given the adaptation a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics, while slightly less favorable, have also enjoyed the film, awarding it an 85%.
