Receipts: ‘Fire And Ash’ Sets Domestic And International Box Offices Ablaze

“Popular” movie musical Wicked: For Good remains in the domestic top 10 for its sixth weekend at the box office, falling two spots to ninth place. Adapted from Donald Westlake's novel The Ax, No Other Choice follows You Man-soo (Lee Byung-hun), a longtime paper industry worker who has been abruptly laid off after 25 years with the same company. Desperate for a new position, Man-soo devises a sinister plan to take out his competitors and secure a job—no matter the cost.

International: Following the performance of its predecessors, Avatar: Fire and Ash has dominated international markets. The blockbuster has earned $544.708 million internationally after just two weeks of theatrical release—71.5% of its worldwide gross of $761.623 million. As the sequel rapidly approaches $1 billion, key markets including China ($99.563 million), France ($54.354 million), and South Korea ($31.983 million) have been crucial in the film’s success.

Streaming: On Netflix’s Global Top 10 Movies List, which tracked from Monday, December 22, 2025, to Sunday, December 28, 2025, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery landed in second. In the murder mystery’s third week in the Top 10, it pulled in 11.8 million views across 28.7 million hours of viewing time.

KPop Demon Hunters secured another podium finish, earning third place for its 28th consecutive week in the Top 10. The animated musical drew in 9.1 million views and 15.1 million hours of viewing time over the holiday.

In ninth place is 2018’s Tomb Raider reboot, earning 4.2 million views and 8.2 million hours streamed in its second week in the Top 10. On the Global Top 10 Non-English Movies List, South Korean sci-fi disaster film The Great Flood held the first position strongly. Following a global Netflix release on Friday, December 19, 2025, the film earned 33.1 million views with 60.1 million hours viewed in its second week in the Top 10. Despite strong engagement, responses to the film have been mixed, with a 50% critic score and an unfavorable 34% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

A remake of the 2005 Argentine film On Probation (Tiempo de valientes), the newly released version follows a psychoanalyst, Silverstein (Luis Gerardo Méndez), who is sentenced to community service and assigned to provide therapeutic support to a police agent, Diaz (Memo Villegas), who is struggling to keep himself together. The two shortly find themselves falling headfirst into a dangerous, comedy-filled adventure of a lifetime.

Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders, the sequel to 2020’s Raat Akeli Hai, earned third place in its second week in the Top 10. Another Friday, December 19, 2025, debut on Netflix, the Indian Hindi-language film earned 3.7 million views and 8.5 million hours of watch time. The film has been met with primarily positive reviews, holding a 77% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The sequel once again follows small-town inspector Jatil Yadav (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), this time on a new case: the murder of the Bansal family. As the inspector dives deeper into the mystery, the web he has uncovered unfolds into a much larger conspiracy.

Japanese romance 10DANCE earned the fifth spot on the list following its Netflix debut on Thursday, December 18, 2025. The film earned 1.6 million views and 3.5 million hours streamed in its second week in the Top 10.

Based on the manga of the same name, the LGBTQ+ love story follows two professional dancers who share the same name: Shinya Sugiki (Keita Machida) and Shinya Suzuki (Ryoma Takeuchi). To prepare for an upcoming competition, the two must learn one another’s contrasting dance styles—leading to more than they bargained for as their partnership turns romantic.

The highly anticipated sci-fi fantasy anime, Cosmic Princess Kaguya!, is scheduled to premiere via Netflix on Thursday, January 22, 2026. The musical reimagines the Japanese folktale The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, following high schooler Iroha Sakayori after she discovers a mysterious baby that crash-landed from the Moon. Iroha’s world turns even more upside down as the baby rapidly grows into the legendary Princess Kaguya, marking the beginning of a music-filled journey for the two.

The Smashing Machine arrives on HBO Max on Friday, January 23, 2026. The biopic follows MMA fighter Mark Kerr (Dwayne Johnson), also known as “The Smashing Machine,” through the peak of his career. The film chronicles his life inside and outside of the cage, including his tumultuous marriage to Dawn Staples (Emily Blunt).
