Industry Insider: East West Ventures & The Move to Dominate Asian American Media

East West Ventures (EWV) is a fund that prioritizes entertainment, tech and consumer capital to engage with companies that invest in cultural experiences embedded in the content. East West Venture has a great focus on conjoining the best pieces of the market from the east (Asia) and providing opportunities and exposure in the west (America). Jaeson Ma is the founder of this venture and has a hand in business that focus on the Asian media including; 88rising, Stampede Ventures, East West Artists, Zash, and Plan C Agency. The pinnacle of his career has amounted to localizing IPs for audiences in China and Hollywood markets. Overall, EWV is meant to be a new avenue for closing the gap of cultural media across the globe, a disturbance in the traditional American markets. The primary mission is broken into a few key components that enable this approach to find success:

  1. Mission driven

We aim to invest in culture changing entertainment and lifestyle companies that bring outstanding returns to the fund.

  2.  Real influence & real products

  3. Clear exits with exceptional value

  4. East west access & expansion

Our GPs have well established relationships and businesses in both the US and Asia, which can provide strategic value for our portfolio companies to expand globally, and maximize our return potential. We are also able to access high quality deal flows in the early stages of fundraising.

Each of these agendas are accomplished through connections, consultations, and access. Connections are meant to solidify the finance backing of international productions. Consultations are based on the international capital markets acquired through business deals, acquisition, and mergers. While the access is regarding the talent that is at the disposal of EWV within their domains from 88rising and other media partners.

88rising is a music label that represents major performing asian artists such as Jackson Wang, Joji, BiBi, Nikki, and Rich Brian. Ma being one of the co-founders along with Sean Miyashiro describes it as a "hybrid management, record label, video production, and marketing company”. Stampede Ventures is also another investment unkempt by Ma. Stampede Ventures produces film and tv series within the independent entertainment markets and often collaborates with major studios, broadcast networks, and platforms. This coincides with another one of EWV’s subsidiaries EST Studios as the studio acts as a partnership between Asian filmmaking talent and financial upward mobility of EWV. Some films produced under the label have been presented in the Canne Film Festival, Tokyo International Film Festival, and Tribeca Film Festival. EWV holds a large prescenes in the global media space as a trailblazing leader as well as a constant engine presenting top of the line talent.
