Hard Numbers: ‘CNN NewsNight with Abby Phillip’ Decreased to Third Most Popular Program, ‘Good Morning America’ Also Dropped Slightly

Cable News Networks: CNBC, the 72nd most popular TV channel, saw a significant 42% drop in viewership from the previous week, falling to 82,250 viewers. CNN, ranked as the 22nd most popular channel, has also declined, with 416, 833 viewers as of Aug. 3, 2025. 

Fox Business Network, currently ranked 54th, increased its audience to 93,750 viewers. Fox News Channel, the third most popular station on TV, experienced a slight rise in viewership, reaching 1.980 million. 

MSNBC, the 10th most popular channel, recorded roughly a 1% increase in its viewership climbing to 705,896 as of Aug. 29, 2025. The 39th-ranked Newsmax TV had a minor decrease in viewership, leveling off at 173,250 at the end of the month. 

NewsNation, ranked 68th overall, also saw a  decline, dropping to 72,750 viewers in August.

News (Daily – Broadcast): CBS Mornings, currently the 16th most popular show on CBS and 48th overall on TV, reported a slight gain  over the previous week, holding steady at 1.748 million viewers. Last month, the eight-most-watched show, Entertainment Tonight,  decreased to 2.567 million viewers. 

Good Morning America, the sixth most popular show on ABC and 20th overall, also dropped slightly to 2.570 million viewers. NBC News Daily, on the other hand, saw a modest rise in viewership from July to August with 2.413 million viewers.

Kristen Welker - Meet the Press with Kristen Welker/nbc

News (Weekend – Broadcast): 0/20, listed as the 10th most popular show on ABC and 40th overall, dipped to 1.696 million viewers last month. As of Aug. 10, 2025, Meet the Press with Kristen Welker averaged 2.034 million viewers in August, which was 20% less than the previous month.

News & Politics (Daily – Cable): CNN NewsNight with Abby Phillip, the third most popular show on CNN and 151st overall on TV, held steady at 499,444 viewers as of Aug. 29, 2025. Laura Coates Live, the ninth most popular CNN program, increased slightly to 278,666 viewers as of Aug. 22, 2025. The Faulkner Focus, the ninth most popular Fox News series, slightly declined to 1.820 million viewers for the month of August.

Al Sharpton - PoliticsNation with Al Sharpton/msnbc

News & Politics (Weekend – Cable): The seventh-most-watched MSNBC series, PoliticsNation with Al Sharpton, saw a slight fall in viewership in August, dropping to 385,166 viewers. The Weekend has a decline in viewership with 389,500 as of Aug. 17, 2025.

Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin - The view/abc

Talk Shows: GMA3: What You Need To Know, currently the 16th most popular show on ABC, increased slightly in August, reaching 1,157,750 viewers. The View also experienced a modest increase, rising to 1.331 million viewers as of Aug. 24, 2025.
