Hard Numbers: 'Family Feud' Takes The Lead While The ‘Password’ Revival With Keke Palmer Gives Impressive Start

Contestant: Like the Starks and Lanisters, Familly Feud and Jeopardy continue their quest for the number one gameshow spot—and Family Feud took the battle this time. The long-running game show hosted by Steve Harvey garnered a total of 6.120 million household viewers for the month of August.   Even if it was short-lived, Family Feud’s early-August ratings impressively shot up to a 5.2 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating going up two percent, ending up as the number one program in both game shows and all of syndication. The other classics like Let’s Make a Deal 1 & 2 have been airing reruns but still marked an impressive total viewership of 2.291 and 2.615 million, respectively, during the second week of August, continuing to average a 0.3 rating in the target demo.

Keke Palmer has revived the classic gameshow Password. It has been reported that the resurrected gameshow's first two episodes averaged a 0.63 rating among adults 18-49 demographic and 5.2 million viewers when combining linear and digital viewing through Wednesday. According to Variety, that is up from the premiere episode's initial performance, which managed a 0.44 rating and 4.1 million viewers in Live + Same Day Nielsen data.

Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro - The View/ABC

Informative: Entertainment Tonight has had an overall slow summer but saw a rise in viewers towards the end of August. The viewer spike was enough to land the show as the number one magazine informative news program the last week of August, with a 17 percent rise among women 25-54 in the key demographic, totaling an average of 2.325 million viewers for August. After some time off, Lester Holt returned to NBC Nightly News in mid-August, and his return saw a total of 6.09 million views. However, by the last week of August, the linear news program only averaged 980,000 viewers in adults 25-54 this past week—a 4 percent drop from the week prior. Disney’s Tamron Hall has also kept consistent ratings, scoring a 0.6 average totaling 734,000 viewers. NBC Nightly News saw year-over-year declines of -6 percent in total viewers and -17 percent among adults 25-54. Crowd daytime favorites like The View will be making upcoming changes for the month of September with the inclusion of Ana Navarro and Sunny Hostin as permanent hosts. For the month, The View and The Talk averaged 367,200 and 244,800, respectively, in the target demographic of women 18-49.

Meanwhile, in the world of cable news programs, The Reid Out is reportedly the 96th most popular show on television and seventh on MSNBC. In August, the news anchor totaled 1,375,000 viewers with an average demo rating of 0.12. The Chris Salcedo Show is the number one show on Newsmax despite a recent 12 percent drop in viewers, averaging 245,000. Don Lemon Tonight is currently ranked the 14th most popular show on CNN, with a total of 509,000 viewers and a 0.12 percent average rating among people 25-54. Jumping on to Fox – The Faulkner Focus is the 10th most popular show on the network and rated an average of 0.18 in the target demographic of people 25-54. It has a viewership total of over 1.6 million viewers. Making Money with Charles Payne on Fox Business is watched by 163,000 people per episode. The average monthly audience measurement for August 31, 2022, details a 14 percent drop from June and a rating average of 0.02 in the target demo.

Court: The court shows have kept a consistent trend going all summer— The average ratings this month for Divorce Court and Judge Mathis are 489,600 and 612,000 viewers, respectively. However, in the courtroom in Florida, The Honorable Marilyn Milian of People’s Court witnessed its newest season low on August 30, dropping 14 percent from the previous week to a total of 734,400 viewers.
