Broadcast: Revolt launched a new weekly news and commentary series, The People’s Brief, hosted by Lynae Vance. Premiering Tuesday, May 20, 2025, Vanee will utilize her voice to offer analysis and cultural perspectives on current headlines. The show aims to disrupt traditional formats, using satire to create community-focused storytelling that uplifts Black voices.

Michael Jordan, an NBA Legend, has signed a deal with NBCUniversal to serve as a special correspondent for coverage of the league, starting with its long-term rights deal in the fall.

Jordan then appeared in a brief video. “Sorry I can’t be with you,” he said. “I am excited about being a special contributor. … Looking forward to seeing you all when the NBA on NBC launches this fall.

“It doesn’t get any more electrifying than that,” lead sports anchor Mike Tirico said after the video announcement, which was preceded by an orchestral version of the NBA on NBC theme “Roundball Rock,” led by its composer, John Tesh.

Scripps announced the promotion of Ahmad Jackson as the vice president of political and pay performance after serving as the interim vice president of the company for six years. Previously, Jackson worked as a senior manager of business operations, director of national sales operations, and senior director of national sales operations.

Ahmad has a deep understanding of Scripps’ sales operations and all aspects of our business and has delivered results across the various functions in our D.C. office, including political, pay for performance, political CTV and sales operations,” said Brian Norris, Scripps’ chief revenue officer. “Ahmad is a strategic thinker who is also able to execute against the strategy, and he is well-respected both within Scripps and throughout D.C.”

Brittany Ford announced her departure from WANF in Atlanta after joining the CBS affiliate in 2023. Ford teases a new opportunity in Houston for her reporting career.

“The end of an era,” she wrote on social media. “After 10 years + in the TV News industry, I’ve made the bold and courageous decision to step away and take on a new challenge. This week will be my last reporting at Atlanta News First.”

Fraces Wang has left WCAU the Philadelphia NBC owned station after three years with the company. Previously Wang had worked for WFOR in Miami, KXTV in Sacramento, California and KREM in Spokane, Washington.

“There have been many big moments, but it was the day-to-day experiences that shaped my time here,” she wrote on social media. “The best part of this job has always been & always will be…the people. From my colleagues to the community members whose stories leave a lasting impact on my heart. Even in tragedy & hard times, what remained consistent was people looking to help.”

Jenna Elique announced her departure from the NBC affiliate, KWES, in Odessa, Texas, after working as a sports anchor and reporter since July 2022.

“Today is my last day at NewsWest 9. I’ve been blessed to serve the Permian Basin sports community for nearly three years, but it’s time to say goodbye,” she wrote on social media on Monday. “Join me one last time tonight at 6 and 10. Until then, enjoy these pictures.”

Avaionia Smith departed from KCEN, NBC Affiliate, as a meteorologist in May 2024 for the roofing industry. Previously, Smith worked for WTok in Meridian, Mississippi.

Cable: The Walt Disney Company signed a deal with Newsmax to add the news and commentary channel to Hulu with Live TV this summer. Set to debut in July, the channel will see more broadcasting availability for viewers, allowing 60 million who use Hulu users the ability to view the channel, which is the fourth-most watched cable news channel in the United States.

The Daily first-run talk show, Karamo, will be renewed for a fourth season in the nation, which was announced by EVP Tracie Wilson of NBCUniversal Syndication Studios & E! News.

“I’m incredibly excited for season 4 and, trust me, we’re just getting started,’ Karamo said. “There’s so much more on the way. Get ready!”

Streaming: CNN announced a new streaming service aimed at younger audiences this fall after the company's attempt in 2022 with CNN+. This new service is part of CEO Mark Thompson’s attempt to broaden CNN’s digital content, amid Fox and ESPN platforms.

Lachlan Murdoch announced that Fox One will launch before the start of the football season as the platform seeks out partnerships with distributors and streaming services. Pete Distad will be running the streaming platform, providing an on-demand hub of Fox News, Fox Business, Fox Weather, FoxSports, FS1, FS2, BTN, Fox Deportes, Fox Local Stations, and the Fox network, as well as the option to bundle Fox Nation.

“We know that FOX has the most loyal and engaged audiences in the industry, and Fox One is designed to reach outside of the pay-TV bundle and deliver all the best Fox-branded content directly to viewers wherever they are,” said CEO Pete. “We have built this platform from the ground up to allow consumers to enjoy and engage with our programming in new and exciting ways, leveraging cutting-edge technology to enhance the user experience across the platform.”
