Ratings Report: ‘The ‘Burbs’ Has The Best Steaming Launch Day of 2026, ‘Ghosts’ Ranks Top 10 on CBS
Broadcast: Ghosts is in the middle of its season five rollout. Season five has garnered a total P18-49 viewership of 4.2 million, averaging 469,300 viewers per episode, and is currently the 10th most watched show on the entire CBS network. This marks a slight decline from season seven’s first nine episodes, which totaled 5.2 million P18-49 viewership, and from its full-season average of 559,429 viewers per episode. The ratings reflect a similar dip. Season five has average episode rating of 0.34 P18-49 across the nine released episodes as compared to season seven’s average of 0.38 P18-49 across 22 episodes. The most recent episode of season five that has data as of the time of writing, released on December 18, 2025, received the lowest viewership (340,300) and rating (0.25) of the season. This could be due to general holiday-season decreases in overall viewership or the audience disconnecting from the material. Reviews indicate mixed opinions on the writing and acting. The previous season had an uptick in viewership and ratings once it returned after the holidays, so Ghosts may see a similar effect for season five. The series’ final standings are yet to be known as it has 11 more episodes of the current season to release and season six was confirmed in February, 2025 in a dual season renewal with season five.
Ghosts is a sitcom that follows a married couple, Sam and Jay Arondekar, played by Rose McIver (The Lovely Bones, iZombie) and Utkarsh Ambudkar (Brittany Runs a Marathon, Blindspotting), living in their recently inherited mansion-turned-bed-&-breakfast. Sam can see the ghosts tied to the home, but Jay can’t. The series was based on a British sitcom of the same name and was created by Joe Port (New Girl, Me, Myself, and I) and Joe Wiseman (New Girl, Me, Myself, and I). McIver and Ambudkar are joined by an ensemble cast including Devan Chandler Long (Doom Patrol, Bosch), Román Zaragoza (Stumptown, Austin & Ally), Brandon Scott Jones (Isn’t It Romantic, Renfield), Rebecca Wisocky (Devious Maids, The Mentalist), Danielle Pinnock (Tell It Like a Woman, Solar), Sheila Carrasco (#VanLife, Dark Air with Terry Carnation), Richie Moriarty (What We Do in the Shadows, Orange Is the New Black) and Asher Grodman (Bookie, Succession). The series has been renewed for a sixth season. Ghosts airs on Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. EST/PST on CBS and is available to stream on Paramount+.
Cable: Tyler Perry’s Sistas (also referred to as Sistas) is a comedy drama currently releasing its landmark tenth season. The current season saw an overall viewership of 408,300 P18-49, averaging 136,100 viewers per episode, and average 0.1 P18-49 rating based on the data available for three of the eight episodes released thus far. This is an increase from Sistas’ season nine average of 88,445 A18-49 viewership per episode and 0.07 A18-49 season average rating. There are very few reviews of the series’ tenth season to determine what could be causing this increase. The biggest change between season nine and ten is the departure of two of the main cast and introduction of two new cast members, however, it is unclear if the new characters drove the boost. There is no confirmed count of episodes for season ten, though previous seasons all have 22 episodes, so Sistas likely has a little over half of its tenth season episodes to release.
Sistas is the story of a group of single Black women experiencing the complexities of love, careers, and personal lives, including their friendship with each other. Sistas was created, written and executive produced by Tyler Perry (Madea’s Family Reunion, Gone Girl) alongside associate producer Carole Wurst (Straw, The Six Triple Eight). Perry has created, written, and produced several other shows under BET. The current core cast consists of KJ Smith Black (Power Book III: Raising Kanan, Fatal Affair), Mignon (42 Seconds, Never Alone for Christmas), Jordan Coleman (Perimeter, All American: Homecoming) and Tunde Oyeneyin (Life & Beth) respectively. Ebony Obsidian (Hunters, The Six Triple Eight) and Novi Brown (Sleeping with My Student, The First Noelle) were two of the main four for seasons one through nine before departing for the tenth season. Sistas airs on Wednesdays at 9:00 p.m. EST/PST on BET and is available to stream on BET and BET Plus.
Streaming: The ‘Burbs released its first season to success. The series has had the best launch day by minutes viewed of 2026 for any new streaming original series released so far and reached nearly 1 billion viewing minutes total since its premiere. The series received an 82% critics rating across 33 reviews and a 68% audience rating across 250+ reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics and audiences alike seem to love the cast and chemistry between cast members as well as some of the plot choices, including the ending. Critics did not like the lack of complexity within the story, particularly within the context of the mystery genre. Audiences had mixed opinions about it being a ‘remake’, with some stating that the direct comparison makes the series worse, and the character writing leaving something to be desired.
The ‘Burbs is a comedy mystery that follows Samira Fisher, played by Keke Palmer (Nope, Alice), and Rob Fisher, played by Jack Whitehall (Jungle Cruise, Bad Education), as they uncover the secrets of their new cul-de-sac. The series is adapted from the 1989 film of the same name and was created by Celeste Hughey (Dead to Me, High Fidelity). Palmer and Whitehall are joined by Kapil Talwalkar (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, Love Pyar Whatever), Julia Duffy (Newhart, Intolerable Cruelty), Paula Pell (Saturday Night Live, Inside Out) and Mark Proksch (What We Do in the Shadows, The Office) in the main cast. The ‘Burbs is available to stream on Peacock.
