The Box: Disney+ Expands To 16 New Territories; Netflix Announces ‘Rebelde’ Season 2 Release Date; ‘Ayeye: Stripped’ New Season Premiering This August

Africa: Ayeye: Stripped starring Rosemary Zimu (Netflix’s Savage Beauty) will be premiering its new season this August on Mzansi Magic. The story follows her character Zoleka, who turns to create adult content on the internet to provide for her children and maintain her lavish lifestyle. The new season will premiere on August 5th.  

Sushmita Sen - Aarya

Asia: Ram Madhvani’s Aarya will return with its third season on Disney+ Hotstar. Starring Sushmita Sen, the series is an adaptation of the Dutch show Penoza and follows a woman who joins a crime syndicate to avenge her husband’s death. The series was already nominated for best drama at the International Emmy Awards. Expect the season to return late this year.  

Abishek Rege is set to leave Endemol Shine India after 15 years. The CEO has not announced his replacement or given any reason for the departure. He took the position of CEO back in 2017. Currently, Endemol hosts a variety of Indian network TV series including Bigg Boss and MasterChef India. Notably, they will be working on new narrative series titled The Ibis Trilogy by Shekhar Kapur.  

Rebelde - netflix

Latin America: Netflix announces the nearing release date for Rebelde season 2. The series is a reboot of the original TV series and follows a group of children with many secrets at an illustrious school. The new season will air on July 27th.

Middle East: Disney+ has expanded to 16 new territories in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). These territories include Egypt, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, and others. It will be an expansion of the successful Disney+ Hotstar app that has already been unrolled in India and parts of South-East Asia. The streaming service will provide all of Disney’s streaming library as well as over 100,000 hours of TV ranging from Asian TV series to live sports.
