Brand Management : TikTok has returned to US app stores, and Updates to Instagram’s DM feature

Meta

Social Networking Service: Meta is introducing updates to Instagram’s DM features. Now when users are sent messages in another language, they can translate the message. To translate a message, users can hold down on a message in another language, and the option to translate the message will appear. Users can also share songs through DMs. To do so, users have to open the sticker tray and tap music. This will send a 30 second preview in the chat. The option to schedule messages is also now available. When sending a DM, users can hold down on the send button, and the option to select a time to send the message will appear. Group chats now have personalized QR codes, so users can now add more people in group chats easily.

Meta is also changing how long live videos will be saved on Facebook. Now new live videos will only be available on Facebook for 30 days. Live videos that were older than 30 days were removed. However, users can still download their live videos from Facebook.

Elon Musk has confirmed that X’s AI model Grok 2, is going to be replaced with Grok model 3. Grok is also available to be downloaded on a dedicated app. The newest model of Grok has 10 times the computing power of its earlier model.

WhatsApp is now allowing users to have a chat theme, and introducing new wallpaper options. You can choose from the pre-set options, or mix the options to create a new chat theme.

Tik Tok

Online Video Platform: TikTok has returned to the U.S. Apple and Google app stores after it was taken off in January. Both Apple and Google received a letter from Attorney General Pam Bondi, informing them that the Trump Administration will not prosecute the tech companies for allowing U.S. users to use TikTok. However, a promise to not prosecute the companies means they still might violate U.S. laws. However, it’s not clear if a president’s order is strong enough to override an act of Congress.

YouTube is experimenting with a voice reply feature. This will allow creators to respond to comments with a 30-second voice recording. The feature is being tested with a small group of creators located in the USA.

X

Industry: Elon Musk’s X has settled a previous lawsuit with President Donald Trump. X has agreed to pay $10 million dollars to settle the lawsuit. Trump sued Twitter and many other tech companies that he claimed censored him after the January 6 capital attack. The settlement with X is after Meta reached a $25 million dollar settlement.

President Donald Trump’s media company is suing Brazilian Supreme Federal Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes. The parent company of Truth Social, Trump Media, is suing the Judge over claims that he violated the First Amendment by suspending several conservative social media accounts. Moraes suspended several social media accounts for hate speech and even suspended the entire X site temporarily. Moraes is also currently in charge of another decision. Whether to arrest the former president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, who has been charged with attempting a coup to stay in power.
