AHS Awards To Rename Talk Show Categories Beginning With The 2027 Ceremony

Beginning with the 5th Annual AHS Awards in 2027, the virtual ceremony will rename two categories that reflect today’s evolving entertainment landscape.

Best Talk Show will become Best Conversation Series, and Best Talk Show Host will become Best Conversation Series Host. 

The updated category names recognize the growing variety of conversation-based programming across television, streaming, and digital platforms, while continuing to honor excellence in hosted conversations regardless of where they are distributed. 

The change comes as traditional broadcast and cable talk shows now exist alongside a growing number of professionally produced video podcasts. While talk shows remain an important part of the entertainment industry, audiences increasingly watch interviews and discussion-based programming across a variety of platforms, making the distinction between the two formats less significant.

Beginning in 2027, the renamed categories will allow traditional talk shows and video podcast series to compete together under a single, platform-neutral field. The focus will remain on the quality of the program and its host, regardless of how the content is distributed.
