53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Nominations

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards nominations are out. The Daytime Emmy Awards are an award bestowed by NATAS in recognition of excellence in American daytime television programming. Leading the nominations are the drama series The Young and the Restless with 19 nominations, Beyond the Gates with 16 nominations, and General Hospital with 13 nominations.
For people of color, the talk shows The Jennifer Hudson Show and Sherri! received two nominations, while in the acting categories, Tajh Bellow and Jacqueline Lopez were each nominated for General Hospital, Valarie Pettiford for The Young and the Restless, and Lisa Yamada for The Bold and the Beautiful.
The ceremony will take place on Friday, October 30, in Hollywood, California. However, a venue and a linear or non-linear TV outlet have not been announced.

Notes:
Four nominations represented an individual Asian American and Pacific Islander as an actor or host of a series as a part of the diverse cast or as a cohost or correspondent.
Among the Hispanic/Latino programming nominated, there were five nominations.
There was no specific programming nominated featuring Arab Americans.
There was no specific programming nominated featuring Native Americans.
The predominant non-white nominations went to those from the Black community, with 22 total nominations.
"Diverse" refers to programming that has a mix of people from various racial/ethnic backgrounds as a part of the cast or as hosts and correspondents. In this area there were a total of 30 nominations.
