Motion Picture: Idris Elba Returns As Luther In Follow-Up Film, Greta Lee Cast As Lilypad In ‘Toy Story 5’

Action/Horror/Fantasy/Sci-Fi: Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey is making his directorial debut with Sober House. Posey co-wrote the film with John Ahle Kellar, which is said to be a horror-thriller with some comedic elements. The story follows three addicts who decide to get clean after one of their friends overdoses. They seek help at a sober house secluded in the mountains. Unfortunately for them, a recovering serial killer is also residing at the house and is having his own type of relapse. Posey will produce the film under Pocket Full Of Posey Entertainment, along with Keli Price and his company, Price Productions. The film aims to begin shooting in the first quarter of 2026.
Idris Elba will be reprising his role as John Luther in a sequel to the thriller film Luther: The Fallen Sun. The sequel plans to return much of the original cast and bring back the director of the first film. In this film, a wave of brutal and random murders calls Luther back into action, with the added pressure of everyone wanting him dead. Luther started as a television series created by Neil Cross for BBC and ran from 2010 to 2019 for five seasons. The above-mentioned sequel film was released in 2023. Chernin Entertainment will produce this latest film, beginning production in February 2026.

Drama/Comedy/Musical: A new update for My New Friend Jim, as Gina Torres (Suits) has joined the cast to star alongside Keith David, with production currently in Nevada. The film follows two fathers searching for their runaway daughters in Reno as they become unlikely friends. Torres will be playing Dorothy Dandy, who is Jim’s (Keith David) wife and is described as being sweet and health-conscious, as well as diffusing tension and being emotional support for the character Melissa, played by Katheryn Winnick (Vikings). The film has no set release date.
Pixar has just released the trailer for Toy Story 5, and with a new story on the horizon, we are certain to meet new characters. Lilypad is a tablet that is delivered to Bonnie and appears to be the latest challenge that the franchise's beloved cast must face. Lilypad will be voiced by Greta Lee (Past Lives), with the plot being kept under wraps. The film will be directed by Andrew Stanton and co-directed by Kenna Harris. In a press release, Stanton went into more details about the film's core idea and the toys dealing with today’s technology and commented on Lee’s performance: “Having the remarkably talented Greta Lee bring Lilypad to life—balancing a playfully antagonistic tone with humor and heart—has been incredible.” The film is set to hit theaters on Friday, June 19, 2026.
Indie drama Caity has added seven new people to its cast. Among them are Zach Cherry (Severance), Michelle Mao (Bridgerton), and Jordan Elizabeth Hull (The L Word: Generation Q). The film follows the story of 16-year-old Caity and her recently sober father, Paul, as they begin to set up their family-owned haunted house for the upcoming Halloween season. Caity begins to notice signs of relapse from her father and tries her best to cover it up; meanwhile, love is brewing between Caity and a new employee (Hull). The film will be directed by Lindsay Calleran and produced by Mary Elizabeth Monda and Malcolm Thorndike Nicholson. What the rest of the new cast will be doing has not been disclosed, and no release date has been announced.
Lana Condor (Ruby Gillman Teenage Kraken) is set to star in an upcoming romcom titled Whodunnit for BuzzFeed Studios, CaliWood Pictures, Fortitude International, and Nickel City Pictures. Nickel City will begin production on the film this month in Oregon. The film will be directed by Nora Kirkpatrick and is written by Jessica Kravitz and Chelsea Catalanotto, with Kirkpatrick revising. The film follows Tess Klein, a woman who finds herself down on her luck after her ideal life plan doesn’t come to fruition. She learns to live with life as it is and not with the one she planned to a T. Who Condor will be playing is unknown, and no release date has been slated.
Thai actor Dom Hetrakul (The White Lotus) is set to star in the upcoming sports comedy Shearing The Love. The film will be the directorial debut of New Zealand writer-producer Tom Hern. Initial photography will begin in the first quarter of 2026. The plot follows Brian Castlehead, a formerly successful hairstylist who joins New Zealand’s Golden Shears, a sheep shearing competition, to prove to his father that he’s a man. Who Hetrakul will be performing as is unknown, and no set release date has been announced, but the film already has pre-buys from Rialto and Vertigo. Essential Film Group will be selling it at the American Film Market.
Upcoming animated musical Bad Fairies has recently added Ncuti Gatwa (Sex Education) to its cast. The film will be a collaboration between Warner Bros. Animation and Locksmith Animation and follows a gang of fairies as they shake up their magical world. Who Gatwa will be voicing is unknown, but he will be starring in the film with Cynthia Erivo (Wicked: For Good). No release date has been announced.
