Nnamdi Egwuonwu - msnbc

Cable: MSNBC has announced that Nnamdi Egwuonwu will be joining the network as a reporter, departing from her breaking news role at Politico. Her political reporting has covered  former President Donald Trump’s second term, as well as President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’ election campaigns. Egwuonwu’s hire comes as part of a broader staffing expansion amid MSNBC’s organizational shift away from NBC News.

The official separation date for MSNBC and NBC News has been revealed. The cable channel will operate fully independently from the news division in terms of policy starting Oct. 20, 2025. A U.S. District Judge dismissed Newsman’s case against Fox News 48 hours after it was filed. Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed the case for duplicative causes of action, but Newsmax has the authority to re-file it if they choose. Michael J. Guzman, an attorney for Newsmax, spoke to news outlets to emphasize the importance of pursuing the case again.

“Fox’s behavior represents a textbook abuse of monopoly power,” Michael J. Guzman, Newsmax’s attorney at the time of the filing, said. “Competition, not coercion, should determine what news channels Americans can watch. Fox has blocked new voices, suppressed consumer choice, and extracted excess profits.”

Dom Lemon has disclosed that his contract with CNN still has one year remaining. Although he left the network two years ago, the non-compete clause prevents him from moving to other outlets until it expires. Lemon explained that his original departure was due to a misalignment between his personal values and those of CNN.

“I never saw myself sort of as a traditional news person, even though I had the journalist chops,” he said. “People were more interested in who I was, and I think that helped tell the news. They were interested in the news, but they were interested in who I was. They found me to be a very interesting person because I took a lot of risks. As a personality, I think that was maybe more akin to a Fox News personality, because I just said it.”

ESPN has announced a new multi-year contract extension with sports journalist Malika Andrews. Edwards will continue to appear on SportsCenter on Sundays, occasionally on Mondays and on ABC’s Good Morning America once a week. Hawkins will be primarily focused on NFL Live and Get Up, while McCourty will balance his work between ESPN and CBS, where he serves as an NFL game analyst. All three will also return to shows like Get Up, First Take, NFL Live and SportsCenter.

Veteran Anchor Michael Eaves has signed a new multi-year contract to continue his work with ESPN. Since joining ESPN as a nighttime sports anchor in 2015, Eaves has continued to expand his diverse broadcasting career.

Desmond Howard, college football analyst and newly-appointed Heisman Trophy winner, has signed a new multi-year contract with ESPN. Entering his 21st season of College GameDay Built by The Home Depot, Howard will continue to deliver exclusive College Football Playoff coverage, ABC’s NFL Draft programming and the Heisman Trophy presentation.
