Demos: TUDN Dominates Spanish Language Networks, NBC Leads Broadcast, BET Tops Cable
Broadcast: NBC led February broadcast viewership with 228.3 million, more than triple that of second-place ABC (80.8 million). CBS followed with 76.2 million viewers, then FOX with 42 million and The CW with 12.9 million. Rankings remained consistent with January, except for CBS and FOX swapping positions. Most networks saw declines month-over-month: FOX dropped 66.1 million viewers, followed by ABC (32.9 million), CBS (4.8 million) and The CW (159,000). NBC increased by 89 million viewers from January. Two notable spikes occurred during the month: CBS saw a 12.6 million increase on Feb. 1, likely driven by the Grammys, while NBC experienced a 42.7 million surge on Feb, 8, likely tied to the Super Bowl. Removing these spikes does not change the overall networks rankings.
Cable: BET continues to be the top cable network in February with 652,000 viewers. Magnolia Network (400,000 viewers) and The Weather Channel (223,000) followed, with OWN at 217,000. BET Her drew 68,000 viewers and Justice Central 54,000. CleoTV (29,000) and Comedy.TV (23,000) ranked lowest. Rankings were largely unchanged from January, aside from The Weather Channel and OWN switching places. Direct comparison to January is limited due to the different portions of viewership tracked between the two months. However, available data suggests that BET, CleoTV, Comedy.TV, Magnolia Network and The Weather Channel all increased their weekly audiences. BET Her and OWN declined, while Justice Central remained the stable.
Spanish Language: TUDN led Spanish-language networks by a significant margin in February with 502,000 viewers. Universo followed with 290,000, and Discovery Español with 72,000. Galavisión (62,000), ESPN Deportes (59,000), Fox Deportes (49,000) and Nat Geo Mundo (33,000) comprised the mid-tier. CNN Español and Discovery Familia tied at 26,000 viewers each, while GalaNovelas (8,000) and BeIN Sports Español (7,000) ranked lowest. As with cable, inconsistent measurement periods between January and February limit direct comparison. TUDN, Universo, Discovery Español, Fox Deportes, Nat Geo Mundo and Discovery Familia all increased their approximate weekly viewership. Galavisión, ESPN Deportes, CNN Español, GalaNovelas and BeIN Sports Español all decreased in their approximate weekly viewership.
