Ratings Report: ‘Cross’ Tops Its Previous Season, ‘The Beauty’ Releases To Mixed Reviews, ‘St. Denis Medical’ Holds Steady

Broadcast: St. Denis Medical is NBC’s 13th most watched show currently on air and has recently wrapped its second season. Across the 17 episodes with available data, season two amassed 40.3 million P2+ viewers with a 2.5 million episode viewership average and a 0.78 episode rating average. These are extremely close numbers to the performance of season one, which garnered 43.2 total viewers, 2.5 million episode average viewership and a 0.8 average episode rating. Based on this information, St. Denis Medical has maintained its audience and its resonance with that audience. The majority of the top rated episodes of the series are within season two, containing seven of the 10 top rated episodes. With the finale of season two’s data still to be released, the second season is likely to remain on par with or slightly surpass season one.

St. Denis Medical is a medical, mockumentary sitcom that follows the small staff team of an underfunded hospital. The series features an ensemble cast including Wendi McLendon-Covey (Bridesmaids, Blended), Allison Tolman (Krampus, The Gift), Josh Lawson (The Little Death, Mortal Kombat), Kahyun Kim (Cocaine Bear, American Gods), Mekki Leeper (Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat, Mag Mell), David Alan Grier (Jon Pickett, Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!) and Kaliko Kauahi (Superstore, Raven’s Home). The series was announced for a season three renewal in February of 2026. St. Denis Medical airs on Mondays at 8:00 p.m. EST/PST on NBC and is available to stream on several streaming platforms including Netflix and Hulu.

Cable: The Beauty recently finished airing its first season on FX. The series accumulated 1.9 million total P2+ viewers, shaking out to roughly 269,471 average viewers per episode and a 0.09 average episode rating. The Beauty received a 72% critics rating across 64 reviews and a 63% audience rating across 250+ reviews. The critics are relatively split on whether the way the show approaches its commentary is too on the nose in a way that makes it fall flat or unsubtle in the best way. Many of the reviews discuss the show in the context of it being co-created by Ryan Murphy (Glee, American Horror Story) and that skews the reviews in one direction or another. The audience is similarly divided, with many loving its premise as much as hating the execution. Though more audience reviews specifically mention not enjoying the season finale due to its cliffhanger ending.

The Beauty is a body horror, sci-fi series that investigates the spread of a fictional virus, "The Beauty.” The series is based on the comic book by the same name written by Jeremy Haun (Alibi, The Leading Man) and Jason A. Hurley and the main cast includes Evan Peters (X-Men: Apocalypse, X-Men: Days of Future Past), Anthony Ramos (In the Heights, Hamilton), Jeremy Pope (The Inspection, Hollywood) and Jess Alexander (The Little Mermaid, A Banquet). As of the time of writing, the series has not been renewed for a second season. The Beauty aired on FX Wednesday nights and the full season can now be streamed on Hulu and Disney+.

Streaming: Cross wrapped up its second season release. The series took a weekly episode release schedule for this season from February 11 to March 28, as opposed to its full season binge drop of season one. Season two received a 95% critics rating across 20 reviews and a 57% audience rating across 100+ reviews. While critics loved the second season significantly more than the first, with season one garnering a 76% critics rating across 42 reviews, audiences went in the opposite direction, dropping in seven percentage points (57% across 100+ reviews). This is likely due to critics wanting more commentary out of the show in the first season, which was delivered in season two. The audience reviews reflect that change in writing as political affiliation seemed to play a large role in whether someone enjoyed the plot of season two. Another prevalent factor in audience reviews was familiarity with the original novels. Many reviews were conflicted on whether the series is a good adaptation of the original series. Across both seasons and both groups, performances by the actors were routinely praised.

Cross follows a series of different investigations by a homicide detective and forensic psychologist, Alex Cross played by Aldis Hodge (One Night in Miami…, Black Adam), while grappling with personal, familial and societal issues. The series is based on the novel series “Alex Cross” by James Patterson (Kiss the Girls, Along Came a Spider). The series has a large ensemble cast. Hodge is joined by Isaiah Mustafa (It: Chapter Two, Boy Kills World), Juanita Jennings (Runaway Jury, Vacancy 2: the First Cut), Alona Tal (Broken City, Veronica Mars), Samantha Walkes (Orphan: First Kill, The Kings of Napa), Caleb Elijah (True Story, ReVerso), Melody Hurd (Fatherhood, Battle at Big Rock) and many more. As of March, 2026, the series has been renewed for a third season. Cross is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
