Critics reviews focused on the writing with some praising how it is a fun and easy watch while others labeled it as a series full of clichés. Several reviews across both groups compared the series to Friends and New Girl, which seemed to work against it for critics and in favor of it for audiences.

Not Suitable for Work is a comedy that centers on five young adults trying to navigate life in Manhattan, New York.
