Ratings Report: ‘His & Hers’ Spends Six Weeks in the Top 10, ‘Tyler Perry's Assisted Living’ Remains Constant

Broadcast: The Neighborhood is nearing the end of its eighth and final season on CBS. Season eight has garnered a total P18-49 viewership of 3.3 million, averaging 411,662 viewers per episode. This marks a decline from season seven’s first eight episodes, which totaled 4.1 million P18-49 viewership, and from its full-season average of 494,526 viewers per episode. The ratings reflect a similar dip. Season eight has average episode rating of 0.30 P18-49 across the eight released episodes as compared to season seven’s average of 0.38 P18-49 across 20 episodes. The most recent episode of season eight as of the time of writing, released on December 8, 2025, received the lowest viewership (299,500) and rating (0.22) of the season. This could be due to general holiday-season decreases in overall viewership or the audience disconnecting from the material. There are very few written reviews on the newer season, however, some do indicate that there may be issues with the character writing resonating with viewers. There are three more confirmed episodes slated for release, so the final standings of the series is yet to be determined.

The Neighborhood follows the families of Calvin Butler, played by Cedric the Entertainer (The Original Kings of Comedy, The Steve Harvey Show), and Dave Johnson, played by Max Greenfield (New Girl, Veronica Mars), after the Johnson family moves into a predominantly black Los Angeles neighborhood next door to the Butler family. The Neighborhood, originally titled Here Comes the Neighborhood, was created by Jim Reynolds (The Big Bang Theory, Samantha Who?). Reynolds served as executive producer of the show alongside Aaron Kaplan (Black Cake, The Chi), Dana Honor (A Million Little Things, Stumble), Wendi Trilling (DMV, Crutch), Cedric the Entertainer, and several other executive producers over the years. Cedric the Entertainer and Greenfield are the leads of a main ensemble cast that includes Tichina Arnold (Little Shop of Horrors, Everybody Hates Chris), Beth Behrs (2 Broke Girls, Monsters University), Sheaun McKinney (Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, Snowfall), Marcel Spears (Remember, The Mayor), and Hank Greenspan (13 Reasons Why). The Neighborhood airs on Monday nights at 8:00p.m. EST/PST on CBS and is available to stream on Paramount+.

Cable: Tyler Perry's Assisted Living is currently releasing the second part of season six, following a six month break between the first 10 episodes. The averages across season six’s episodes were 54,518 P18-49 viewers and a 0.04 P18-49 rating; not far off from season five’s 64,138 average viewers and 0.05 average rating per episode. The most recent episode with viewership data, episode 11 released on February 4, 2026, has the highest P18-49 viewership (81,700) and rating (0.06) of the sixth season. This sudden increase in both viewership and rating could be attributed to the writing, humor, or comeback from the mid-season break, though it is difficult to pin down as audience reviews are not available. There are two more episodes set to come out for the sixth season. It is yet to be seen if they will follow in the footsteps of the former part of the season or in that of the February 4 episode.

Assisted Living is a sitcom about the antics of a three-generational family in Georgia after the grandfather purchases an elderly home. As the full title indicates, Assisted Living was created by Tyler Perry (Madea’s Family Reunion, Gone Girl) and is one of several series that Perry produces under BET. The series features an ensemble main cast including David Mann (Meet the Browns, Madea Goes to Jail), Tamela J. Mann (Madea Goes to Jail, Diary of a Mad Black Woman), J. Anthony Brown (xXx: State of the Union, Drumline), Na'im Lynn (The Roast of Tom Brady, Kevin Hart: Laugh at My Pain), Courtney Nichole (The Neighborhood, The Forge), Tayler Buck (Annabelle: Creation, Transcend), Alex Henderson (Creed, Captive State), Damien Leake (The Great Debaters, Sea of Love), Chet Anekwe (The Family Meeting, Captain Fall) and Alretha Thomas (East of La Brea, Christmas Grieve). Assisted Living airs on BET on Tuesdays at 9:30p.m. EST/PST.

Streaming: His & Hers is a limited mini-series released on Netflix on January 8, 2026, based on a novel of the same name by Alice Feeney. The series has been in the Netflix Top 10 for six consecutive weeks since its release week, with it being in the number one spot for the first three weeks. His & Hers has totaled 382.7 million hours watched across 87.7 million views. It received a 69% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes across 51 reviews and a 62% audience rating across over 500 reviews. The critics focus on how the series doesn’t lean enough into the aspects of the premise that could make it stand out in the thriller genre, but generally praise the performances of its cast. The audience was primarily divided on the ending, with some praising the twist as an exciting end and some finding it not believable or nonsensical as a conclusion. It is unlikely the series will return for a season two, due to it being a limited mini-series and having a fairly average reception. Additionally, the original novel was a one-off with no sequels or reappearances of the characters in Feeney’s other work, making the material of any new season needing to be built from the ground-up.

His & Hers is about the solving of a murder case in Dahlonega. The plot involves the clashing of a journalist, Anna Andrews played by Tessa Thompson (Creed, Thor: Ragnarok), brought back into her field by the case, with her estranged husband, Detective Jack Harper played by Jon Bernthal (The Wolf of Wall Street, King Richard), who has been officially assigned to the case. Thompson, who is also an executive producer on the project, and Bernthal are joined by Sunita Mani (GLOW, Death of a Unicorn), Pablo Schreiber (13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, Orange is the New Black) and Rebecca Rittenhouse (Unfriended: Dark Web, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood). His & Hers is available to stream on Netflix.
