Africa: Enver Groenewald has been appointed as the new South African Public Broadcaster (SABC) boss in charge of sales; however, his job title has changed to Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). Enver will now oversee all of the SABC’s advertising and sponsorship deals. Enver has held multiple executive roles in Africa.
Ghana’s militant minister, Sam George, was defeated as his plan to capitalize on MultiChoice backfired, causing him to back off as the government demanded that the pay-TV operator lower prices by 30% or risk losing its license. However, dramatically, MultiChoice never dropped its prices, causing Sam George’s plan to fail. As of now, MultiChoice has no plans to lower its cost.
The SABC has appointed Arise/365 Digital, Media North, and Mediamark as digital sales partners. The intention is to help build up sales for the company, as in recent years, there has been a decline. SABC is hopeful that with their new deal, they can bring back clients.

Asia: Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming service, HBO Max, is expanding into 14 additional Asia Pacific territories beginning on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. The expansion will bring the service into countries such as Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Macau, Pakistan, Mongolia, and Sri Lanka. The launch coincides with the release of the upcoming series IT: Welcome to Derry.
Medialink Group Limited, the famous Hong Kong intellectual property (IP) management group, has expanded into Japan. The Japanese subsidiary's mission is to enhance revenue streams of non-Japanese IP content. Alongside the expansion, new titles have been released from the company, which include Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy and Joran the Princess of Snow and Blood.
The new Indian crime drama, Search: The Naina Murder Case, is actually based on the Danish television show The Killing. The new series, directed by Rohan Sippy and starring Konkona Sen Sharma, is set for streaming on Friday, October 10, 2025, on JioHotstar.
Daniel Henney has joined the Netflix K-Drama Genie, Make a Wish, and alongside Henney is Song Hye-kyo and Kim Ji-hoon. This marks Henney’s return to Korean dramas after three years. The series will premiere on Friday, October 3, 2025.
The upcoming K-drama In Your Brilliant Season has confirmed its cast lineup. The stars included in the show are Lee Mi-sook, Kang Seok-woo, Han Ji-hyun, and Oh Ye-ju, directed by Park Seon-ho. The series is eyeing a release in the first half of 2026.

Hulu has announced it will be replacing streaming service Star as a tile with Disney+’s international service beginning on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. This will mark the first major international expansion for Hulu.
Celine Dion and Omar Sy have been announced to voice the cast of the French-language film High in the Clouds. Paul McCartney is producing the film. The film is set for release in France on Wednesday, July 7, 2027.
