Viewing Figures: ‘Our Golden Days’ Remains Top-Rated K-drama; Daytime Soaps see Ratings growth

South Korea: Our Golden Days, a South Korean drama series debuted on Aug. 9, 2025, and remains the highest-rated serial drama in the country. The series, airing two episodes a week on Saturdays and Sundays on KBS2, had an average viewership of 14.72 percent of viewership in September, up from its August. However, Our Golden Days faced tough competition from Bon Appetit Your Majesty, which received an average of 13.78 percent of tvN viewership. Meanwhile, MBC TV’s Mary Kills People was the lowest rated K-Drama in September, averaging 1.13% of viewership. This is down from the August average of 1.47% viewership.

United States: Daytime dramas had minor Daytime dramas had minor ratings growth in September, while soaps either matched or increased from their August ratings. The Young and the Restless remains CBS’s top-rated soap, 2.86 million viewers in September. In contrast, the soap had an average 2.9 million viewers in August. The Bold and the Beautiful’s ratings rose marginally in September, averaging 2.51 million viewers, compared to its August average of 2.45 million. Meanwhile, Beyond the Gates, television’s newest daytime drama, garnered 1.56 million viewers in September, a mild surge from its August average of 1.51 million, although it still remains the lowest rated soap opera in the United States. It should be noted that Beyond the Gates was in reruns from Sept. 1-5, 2025.

ABC’s General Hospital also saw an uptick in its figures, averaging 1.94 million viewers in September, up from its August average of 1.82 million. It was a big month for the soap, which could explain the small surge in ratings. Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) returned to Port Charles and reunited with her mother, Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati,) after being presumed dead for over two years. Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) also returned from the dead nearly eight years after being shot and presumably killed by his own father, Cesar Faison (Anders Hove.) Nearly a year after the actress’ death, General Hospital honored its longest-serving actor, Leslie Charleson, with a memorial for her character Monica Quartermaine, which led into the debut of One Life to Live’s Erika Slazak as Monica’s sister, Veronica Bard.
