Africa: Scandal!, the beloved South African soap opera which has been running for a record 20 years, is coming to an end. Debuting back in January 2025, the series has kept South Africans on the edge of their seats for two decades. e.tv announced the series will officially come to an end in June 2026, giving fans a couple more months to say goodbye to a beloved show.

Asia: Firstman Studio, created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, best known for creating the hit Netflix series Squid Games, has made a $3 million investment into TwelveLabs, an entertainment-focused AI tech company located in San Francisco. Co-founded by Jae Lee, Soyoung Lee, Dave Chung, SJ Kim, and Aiden Lee, the company has partnered with studios, streamers, creators, and broadcasters to offer them resources in record time. TwelveLabs separates itself from other companies as its main focus is on creating entirely new content.

The International Affiliation of Writers Guild (IAWG) AGM will meet next week to address “cultural colonialism” as writers from the Global South have voiced concerns. The IAWG AGM is holding an event for the first time in the country of India. Guilds from around the world will travel to India for the event. Topics up for discussion at the event include fair pay and residuals. Anjum Rajabali, senior writer and committee member of the Screenwriters Association, sees the event as an opportunity to better the relationship between major entertainment companies and the Global South. The event will be held in Mumbai, one of India's popular cities, from Monday, October 6, 2025, to Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
