Africa: DStv has announced the addition of three new programs to its children’s programming: Paramount Global’s Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., and DreamWorks. The channels will officially be released on Monday, August 25, 2025.

DStv is under fire in Ghana due to its refusal to lower its cost. Ghana is advising its government to consider switching to the incoming TV Broadcaster Canal+, Which In their own words, “the newest and most advanced broadcast”. DStv has until Saturday, September 6, 2025, to lower prices or risk losing the ability to broadcast in Ghana and possibly other African regions.

SABC is facing troubling times, as its offices in Auckland Park can no longer be repaired due to SABC’s budget. The South African broadcaster cannot afford to repair the offices, instead opting to rent out lifts to generate some profit. Staff who had offices in the Auckland building are being moved to its TV center building, leaving only the radio stations in the Auckland offices. SABC hopes that with the rentals, it can recover its profit in order to fix the offices.

Asia: Netflix has unveiled a new teaser for the upcoming Shah Rukh Khan series, The Ba***ds of Bollywood. The series cast includes Shah Rukh Khan, Bobby Deol, Lakshya, Sahher Bambba, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, Manish Chaudhari, Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, Vijayant Kohli, Rajat Bedi, and Gautami Kapoor. The series is the directorial debut of Aryan Khan, son of Shah Rukh Khan, and is set to premiere on Netflix on Thursday, September 18, 2025.

iQIYI, the Chinese video streamer, reported in its second quarter of 2025 that viewership is down 11%. This can be attributed to the streamer’s low content output and weaker advertisements. The streaming giant hopes to bounce back in the following quarter with brand new releases and content.
