RuPaul Makes Emmys History With 10th Nomination
Reality host and Drag Race star RuPaul Andre Charles has received his 10th nomination at the Emmys for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program.
The nominations for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in a virtual broadcast hosted by actor Harvey Guillén and actress Brenda Song.
The nomination, for RuPaul’s role on the 17th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, makes him the most nominated reality host in Emmys history, having been nominated nine times previously and winning eight. He also holds the record for the greatest number of Emmy wins by a person of color, with 14 trophies given to the series prior.
The series has also been nominated at this year’s Emmys for Outstanding Reality Competition Program, with 10 other nominations for it and its various spin-offs, including for the behind-the-scenes documentary RuPaul's Drag Race: Untucked. These have included nominations for the Unstructured Reality Program for Untucked; Makeup for a Variety, Nonfiction, or Reality Program; Outstanding Lighting Design/Direction for a Series; Outstanding Picture Editing for an Unstructured Reality Program for Untucked; Outstanding Picture Editing for a Structured Reality or Competition Program; Outstanding Directing for a Reality Program; Outstanding Casting for a Reality Program; and Outstanding Production Design for a Variety or Reality Series.
The awards ceremony is to be held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 14, 2025. The ceremony will air live on CBS and will be available for streaming live and on demand on Paramount+.
