Viewing Figures: ‘Agent Kim Reactivated’ Dethrones ‘Recipe For Love’ as highest-rated K-Drama; ‘The Young and the Restless’ Sees Ratings Gains
South Korea: The SBS revenge thriller Agent Kim Reactivated emerged victorious with viewing figures in July. The series, which concluded its run at the end of July, scored 21.55% of viewership. Significantly, this figure is above both Recipe for Love’s June and July figures. Recipe for Love, which also concluded its run in July on KBS2, came in second place for South Korean viewing figures, achieving 14.75% of viewership, slightly below its June average. Meanwhile, the ENA series Dream to You had the lowest ratings in July, with 2.53% of viewership.
Netflix: The first season of Elite Force outperformed all non-English-language television shows for viewing figures in July. Remaining in the top 10 of the Netflix ratings charts for four weeks, the series averaged 8.5 million views throughout July. This figure is slightly below the ratings for Teach You a Lesson, which had the highest Netflix ratings in June. Impressively, Agent Kim Reactivated did very well in the ratings in the United States, achieving 8.02 million views in July, coming in second place closely behind Elite Force. Lastly, India’s Got Latant, Better Late Than Single, Jujutsu Kaisen: Season 3, and Elize Matsunaga: Once Upon a Crime: Season 1 all came in last place for streaming ratings, scoring just 1.5 million views.
United States: The status quo remains the same for viewing figures for the four daytime television dramas, and all but one saw improvements in their ratings. CBS’s The Young and the Restless remained on top and averaged 3.26 million viewers in July, a slight increase from its June figures. Fellow CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful also saw a slight improvement, reaching 2.88 million viewers.
America's newest soap, CBS’s Beyond the Gates, again came in last in viewership, scoring 1.65 million viewers. The soap was the only daytime drama on television to see a downturn in its ratings for July. Lastly, ABC’s General Hospital, the longest-running American daytime drama currently in production, remains steadily in third place, averaging 1.96 million viewers, a slight improvement from its June figures.
